▒ Prolog
▒ Zeichnungen
▒ Adam 1,2
↗ britishmuseum.org
Dürer's Adam and Eve
Albrecht Dürer's engraving 'Adam and Eve' is one of the artist's best-known and most famous works. The period leading up to the completion of the work was marked by numerous sketches, some of which were inspired by antiquity. This website looks at the various preparatory sketches and then focuses on the engraving itself. The final section of the exhibition looks at the development of the Adam and Eve motif in the form of an oversized oil painting.

Heritage Houses
Germany's cultural heritage is expressed through the homes of some of its most recognizable writers, composers, artists, and thinkers. Here are five of the most notable, historically significant houses in Germany. From Goethe's baroque villa in Weimar to Dürer's medieval residence in Nuremberg, these currently very well-preserved residences offer deep insights into the lives and times of Germany's greatest thinkers.
Albrecht Dürer
For five centuries, Albrecht Dürer has been recognised as one of the greatest artists of his time and far beyond. To this day, he epitomises the Renaissance north of the Alps, which he proudly celebrates as the "revival of art". His paintings and engravings show the Northern interest in detail and Renaissance efforts to represent the bodies of humans and animals accurately.

Dürer - The Blog
Welcome to our exploration of Albrecht Dürer, a towering figure of the Northern Renaissance whose artistic genius continues to resonate through the ages. Born in Nuremberg in 1471, Dürer's innovative techniques and profound understanding of the human form revolutionized printmaking and painting alike. From his intricate woodcuts to his masterful oil paintings, Dürer’s work reflects a deep engagement with both nature and the complexities of the human experience.
The Flavian Theatre
The Colosseum is one of the most iconic structures in history. Located in Rome, Italy, it was built by Emperor Vespasian and his son Titus between 70-80 AD as a gift to the Roman people. It stands today as an enduring symbol of Ancient Rome’s grandeur and engineering prowess. The Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests, public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts and executions.
